Sativa vs. Indica vs. Hybrid

Whether you’re perusing every page of ShopTheLeaf or indulging at a local smoke shop nearby you, you may notice each strain of cannabis is comprised of three separate groupings: sativa, indica and hybrid.

Sedating as they are known to be, Indica strains are exemplary for a relaxing Netflix documentary night in of Weeds or as a nightcap before bed. Sativas, on-the-other hand, yield more energizing, praise-worthy cerebral effects that tend to combine well with physical activity, social gatherings, and upbeat happenings. Hybrids, as you’d venture a guess, are somewhere in between the two.  Think dopey the dwarf vs. sleepy!

It’s understandable that, due to these inherent differences, medical patients that partake in the use of cannabinoids to treat their symptoms and conditions may latch onto one of the aforementioned strains for pain relief.  Sativa may be best of use for any patients needing daytime relief due to depression or pain.

On the opposing side of the coin, a patient dealing with treating pain and insomnia will likely opt for that of an indica strain in the evening-time. Cannabis strains that are high in CBD (Cannabidiol), of which patients being treated for the likes of seizures, anxiety, and pain – can be included into either category.  These, however, offer little to hardly any effects that can be deemed psychoactive.

All-in-all, these are the definitive differences and optional uses of each various strand of cannabinoid.  Ultimately, it’s up to you to try out each strand to find what works best for your overall enjoyment, pain relief, and smoking pleasure.  If you’re health conscious just as we are here at ShopTheLeaf, you’ll probably want to check out these modes of consumption that are shown to be easiest on your lungs and overall cannabis consuming mechanism!
